This one goes out to all those faculty with new iPads (and anybody else with an iPad for that matter).
Here are some things you might do right away:
- Update to iOS 7. Yes I've written about my angst with the update, but all the apps are updating to it so you might as well.
- Enable these privacy settings
- Set up your MacPhail email.
- Download some of our favorite apps for teaching music
- Update your apps by opening the app store and hitting update
- Turn on Multitasking Gestures in Settings->General. You can then use four or five fingers to pinch the screen and go to the home screen, swipe up to do multitasking, and swipe left or right between apps.
Things that other people showed me that are awesome:
- Double clicking the home button lets you quickly move between apps:
- If you click the power button and the home button at the same time it takes a photo of your screen and saves it in your camera roll.
- The side switch can be used to either Mute the iPad or Lock it from rotating the screen.
Things Apple can give you good answers about:
- How to turn off the iPad
- How to connect to a wi-fi network
- How to back up and restore
- How to charge your iPad
- If an app is malfunctioning, Close the App
- Apple's 128 page iPad Manual
And remember, all of the EML lab techs are thrilled to help you with your iPad. Email, call, or set up some in person one on one help.
